PRESIDENT OBAMA SUPPORTS ALZHEIMERS
January 5, 2011, 11:07 am
On January 4, 2011 President Obama signed the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA) into law. NAPA creates for the first time a coordinated national strategy to confront one of America’s most feared and costly diseases, a disease that will only plague more baby boomers as focus government efforts and ensure that appropriate resources are maximized and leveraged to find better treatments, a means of prevention, and ample care and supportive services for the millions of families with the challenges of this disease every day. Given the scale of the Alzheimer epidemic and the growing number of Americans directly affected every single day they age. The National Alzheimer’s Project Act, NAPA will provide an essential framework within the government that recognizes the Alzheimer crisis is no longer emerging but is here. Fantastic that : President Obama Supports Alzheimers.
The Alzheimer’s Association is pleased that a much needed plan will now be put into place to address the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, currently the sixth-leading cause of death in this country.Well, at least President Obama supports Alzheimers “On behalf of the 69,000 people living with this disease in Iowa alone and the multitude of Alzheimer advocates from across the state who reached out to their elected officials to tell them to support this important legislation,” said Kelly Hauer, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association East Central Iowa Chapter, “We are grateful the nation’s leaders have signaled their understanding of the fundamental need for a coordinated federal effort.”

Building on the work of the Alzheimer’s Association and the recommendations of the Alzheimer’s Study Group, an independent, bipartisan panel is created to evaluate the government’s current efforts to combat the disease, NAPA will lead to the creation of a national strategic plan. PRESIDENT OBAMA SUPPORTS ALZHEIMERS – FANTASTIC
What is intended by this legislation?
What is the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA)?
It is a law to put in place a national coordinated strategy for America to confront one of its most feared diseases.
Focus government efforts and ensure that appropriate resources are maximized and leveraged to find better treatments, a means of prevention, and ample care and supportive services for the millions of families with the challenges of this disease every day. There is hope now that President Obama supports Alzheimers. NAPA will provide an essential framework within the government that recognizes the Alzheimer crisis is no longer emerging but is here. NAPA will lead to the creation of a national strategic plan.
The Americans have taken the lead once again and we must follow. Each one of us should take the above as an example of President Obama supports Alzheimers and start a campaign to equal any efforts by the Americans. My own contribution will be the following:
BUT REMEMBER – IT HELPS THAT PRESIDENT OBAMA SUPPORTS ALZHEIMERS
“It is now some 4 years since I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in the first phase and have been able to lead a reasonably normal life. During this time I made the decision to undertake intensive research on this subject and it resulted in my writing three books. My work is advertised on the website of Alzheimer’s South Africa. It has been given excellent critique by professional persons in the caregiving world and from Professor Malan Heyns of the University of the Free State, who is also the Deputy President of Alzheimer’s South Africa.A big boost now is - Wow President Obama Supports Alzheimers.
My credentials speak for themselves, having now written ‘ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE‘, ‘MY STORY‘ and ‘DIARY OF AN ALZHEIMER’S SUFFERER‘, and ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE, A PRACTICAL GUIDE during the preceding years. I have severe short-term memory loss, but my day-to-day mind is clear, thanks to a special program I have designed during the past years.
My great wish is to boost donations for Alzheimer’s Organizations throughout the world.
How?
By ensuring that 60% of all income from sales of my e-books go towards the donationS accounts of those Alzheimer’s Organizations that place the e-books on their websites and/or recommend the books in their newsletters and other publications.
I have already instructed my publishers to have a program in place where money from sales will be automatically paid over to Alzheimers Organizations and other interested groups. Through this scheme I sincerely hope to become the individual who through such effort manages to generate the most much needed funds towards this great cause. That is my mission. An now, President Obama supports alzheimers – what a boost for research. My books will be sold as e-books as well as soft cover books. In the case of hard copies the donation will be 30% because of printing costs.
Digitally downloadable books are now a fantastic resource for websites and of course, are environmentally friendly. The degree of success/donations depends on the size of your database and the relationship that you have with your readers. That is why I decided to get your views and assistance. I am very keen to get your views on the information on this website and to possible Joint Ventures with you to achieve a WIN-WIN-WIN for all those interested in beating Alzheimers Disease.
Kind regards

“ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE – MY STORY”
This letter is an appeal to any Alzheimer’s Organisation who would like their subscribers to contribute towards their donation Fund or any body who is involved with an Organisation needing funds to reach out to fellow Alzheimer’s sufferers.
Over the past eight years, John Du Preez, my father and author of this book, and I have been closely associated with the Alzheimer’s phenomena in South Africa. During this time we owned a private home for the aged and many of the residents there were Alzheimer’s sufferers. Through the close association with these people, John saw a need for some form of guidance for those affected by Alzheimer’s – for sufferers and those in contact with sufferers such as caregivers, relatives and friends. With the encouragement of a local Alzheimer’s Support Group and through close observation, investigation and research, he was able to compile a Guide Book.
A few years ago John himself started showing signs of Alzheimer’s and was of course, devastated as he knows the sickness is incurable. He made a decision to consciously fight the sickness. His research and his writings culminated in the Guide Book, together with two more books on this terrible disease. He is now 75 years old and suffers from severe short-term memory loss, however, as a result of a program he designed, coupled with his determination, John is still an articulate man with a quick mind, able to cope well in his day to day life. We are privileged and proud to be able to introduce his books to all who are affected, or have an interest in Alzheimer’s.
In addition to producing John’s writings in hard copy, we are also publishing his work in e-book format. John feels very strongly that 60% of the income from sales of his books should go towards Alzheimer’s research and/or programs for improving the health and welfare of Alzheimer’s sufferers. He hopes one day to be remembered as the person who privately contributed more towards this great cause than any other person in the world.
John’s writing and his achievements speak for themselves and his work is recognized by Alzheimer’s South Africa and other critiques worldwide.
Our objective is simple:
we want to help Alzheimer’s organizations such as yourselves make extra income (often within 24 hours) by offering your current database/newsletter subscribers ‘Alzheimer’s Disease - MY STORY’ as an instantly downloadable e-book. This is a win-win-win situation for all concerned.
Digitally downloadable books are a fantastic resource for websites and the way of the future. The benefits for readers are that e-books are instant, more affordable than hard-copy books and environment-friendly as there is no printing involved. For your organisation, the degree of success depends on the size of your database and the relationship you have with your readers. AVOIDING ELDER CARE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE
ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE: MEMORY LOSS AND AGEING
MY STORY
“When I received confirmation that I have in fact without doubt fallen victim to Alzheimer ’s Disease I was devastated although I had suspected it for quite a while. I was quite knowledgeable about Alzheimer’s disease as a result of my involvement as co-owner of a Home for the Age and elder care was one of my specialties. Some time before that I wrote a Guide Book on Alzheimer’s Disease, which was directed at caregivers and relatives of Alzheimer’s sufferers. I decided that I will fight the sickness, instead of the sickness causing a declining of my brain and ultimately a slow death sentence and being in elder care.
The worry of elder care
I knew that once the sickness manifested itself it carries on relentlessly until the sufferer is completely dependent on relatives and caregivers and elder care becomes a big part of your loved one’s lives.
This is the story of my life, my involvement with Alzheimer’s and my humble contribution towards understanding and dealing with it. And my desire to stay out of elder care as long as possible
Every one of my books that is sold is a donation towards the cause of those supporting Alzheimer’s sufferers and research into the sickness. WHY? Because 60% of the monies for such sales are automatically paid into the account of the Alzheimer’s Organization that advertises the book on its Website, in its Newsletter or other publication!
This book will surely become the single most successful effort by an individual to generate funds towards such cause. Buy my book and become part of this venture and keep me out of elder care as long as possible.
ITS NOT THE END OF THE ROAD. ONE CAN OVERCOME ALZHEIMER’S AND TURN SUFFERING INTO HOPE AND JOY IN A SECOND CHANCE TO LIVE A USEFUL LIFE! ONE CAN STAY A STEP AHEAD. AN KEEP OUT OF ELDER CARE.

Read this story about my private non-medical research into the Alzheimer’s phenomenon. I believe I may be the first non-medical Alzheimer’s sufferer to undertake research in order to find ways and means to retain my memories and thereby to successfully delay the progression of this sickness. For me staying out of elder care as long as possible is very important.
ALZHEIMER’S SUFFERER -DIARY OF HOPE
A JOURNEY OF HOPE
This is an inspirational story. It is a real case study, written by the person experiencing the hurts, frustrations and at times desperation of one who believes that time is running out. The story reveals that all is not lost and that symptoms of the sickness can in fact be controlled and new memories created if one follows the program designed by author.
DIARY OF AN ALZHEIMER’S SUFFERER
“When I received confirmation that I have without doubt developed Alzheimer’s disease I was devastated although I had suspected it for quite a while. I was quite knowledgeable about Alzheimer’s disease as a result of my involvement as co-owner of a Home for the Aged. Some time before that I wrote a Guide Book on Alzheimer’s disease, which was directed at caregivers and relatives of Alzheimer’s sufferers.
I decided that I will fight the sickness, instead of the sickness causing a declining of my brain and ultimately a slow death sentence. I ALSO DECIDED THAT I SHALL KEEP A DIARY OF MY PROGRESS AND ATTEMPTS TO STOP THE FURTHER PROGRESSION OF THE SICKNESS.
I knew that once the sickness manifests itself, it carries on relentlessly until the sufferer is completely dependent on relatives and caregivers.
During the following couple of years I gradually compiled a program that can help keep the symptoms of the sickness from becoming established. The program is directed towards the renewal of memories and the establishment of new memories for people in the early phases of the sickness and when the person is still clear of mind. By following the program one can stay clear of mind even though your short-term memory fails you.
This program can rightfully be described as a ‘Journey of Hope’ and is intended to counter short-term loss of memory. The program and the diary will take you step by step along the research process and the conclusions and theories of various specialist sources regarding the intricate workings of the human brain. It is a real life case study based on personal experience and shows how an Alzheimer’s sufferer can continue to improve the memory retention ability.
The diary shows how short-term memory loss in the brains of Alzheimer’s sufferers (or memory loss brought on by strokes, epilepsy, accidents, alcohol dementia and other causes) can be successfully restored and retained. In the diary the doubts, frustrations, hopes and joys of an Alzheimer’s sufferer are portrayed.
This is the story of my life, my involvement with Alzheimer’s Disease and my humble contribution towards understanding and dealing with it.”

ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE A PRACTICAL GUIDE
A Practical Guide for Caregivers and Relatives
ALZEIMER
Alzeimer is the sickness that cannot be wished away. It is estimated that there are 200,000 sufferers of Alzeimer in South Africa. There may be many more. Alzeimer disease is regarded as ‘bad’ news and sufferers and their families shy away from acknowledging it when a person is affected. There is probably not a single family in the world who is not related to an Alzeimer sufferer or who does not know one. The sickness occurs mostly amongst the elderly and according to available information, about 15% of persons up to the age of 65 years are affected in the first phase. By 85 years of age about 50% have the sickness.
ALZEIMER
The problem with Alzeimer is that many times the person concerned does not realize that he has contracted the sickness. Research has shown that once the sickness has manifested itself it carries on relentlessly until the sufferer is completely dependent on relatives and caregivers. “I was inspired by circumstances some eight years ago to write a Guide on Alzeimer aimed at relatives of sufferers and at caregivers. At that time I was owner of a Home for the Aged and about 50% of the lodgers had Alzeimer to some degree. I also found that our Home Nurses had no experience in dealing with such cases. This caused much stress for both residents and the staff. Residents constantly accused the staff of theft and many a tear was shed in frustration. I became a member of the local support group here in Mossel Bay (South Africa) and our Leader, Maria van Staden, encouraged me to start researching and compiling such a guide. My first book was published in Afrikaans and I have since translated it into English. I also started a local Training Centre and have trained many people on home nursing with special emphasis on the Alzeimer sufferers. My studies at a number of Old Age Homes revealed that nursing staff in many such places received no special training on how to deal with Alzeimer cases. Worryingly in some of these homes other elderly persons not suffering from the disease were placed in the same rooms as Alzeimer sufferers. This was unfair to both groups. This Guide was written in English and Afrikaans and in plain easy-to-understand language. It was published locally but has since run out of print. It will soon be republished and in the meantime it will be available on Internet for immediate download, or if preferred, can be bound by ‘ringbinder’ at any local printing shop in your town. This method will keep your copies neat and you will not have pages missing”. A Guide of this nature is a must for any family of Alzheimer’s sufferers and for caregivers! © Copyright: J.R. du Preez. How does Alzheimers disease progress? research and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease
rudramani.com – Herbs that halt and reverse AD Alzheimer’s disease is a devastating disorder of the brain’s nerve cells that impairs memory, thinking, and behavior. Shilajit & Withania seems to benefit Alzheimer’s patients in a truly surprising manner. Alzheimer’s disease (AD), also known in medical literature as Alzheimer disease, is the most common form of dementia. There is no cure for the disease, which worsens as it progresses, and eventually leads to death. It was first described by German psychiatrist and neuropathologist Alois Alzheimer in 1906 and was named after him.[1] Most often, AD is diagnosed in people over 65 years of age although the less-prevalent early-onset Alzheimer’s can occur much earlier. In 2006, there were 26.6 million sufferers worldwide. Alzheimer’s is predicted to affect 1 in 85 people globally by 2050.[3] Although Alzheimer’s disease develops differently for every individual, there are many common symptoms.[4] Early symptoms are often mistakenly thought to be ‘age-related’ concerns, or manifestations of stress.[5] In the early stages, the most common symptom is difficulty in remembering recent events. When AD is suspected, the diagnosis is usually confirmed with tests that evaluate behaviour and thinking abilities, often followed by a brain scan if available.[6] As the disease advances, symptoms can include confusion, irritability and aggression, mood swings, trouble with language, and long-term memory loss. As the sufferer declines they …
